Whirlpool F06

Hello there. I have an issue with my washer.

I have a GHW9400PL1 Whirlpool washing machine that is getting an F06.

It’s actually my father-in-laws and I have the same exact machine. I pulled my MCU and motor and put it in his, it’s still getting the F06. I put his MCU and motor in mine and it works fine.

Other than the MCU and motor, what could be wrong. I’ve checked/reseated the connections the best I could and didn’t see anything obviously wrong with anything.

Any help would be great, if I can’t fix this thing before Black Friday I’m just going to get a new one for him.

Thanks! Great forum, I’ve learned and fixed a ton from the information on here.

I know it doesn’t make sense to do so, but trying switching the door lock assemblies and see if that makes it work on the problem machine.

Thanks for the reply.

I will try just that. I haven’t read any suggestions about that anywhere for an F06, but it’s worth a shot at this point.

I’m also going to give those connections another good looking at, maybe I missed something. With the MCU and motor eliminated, it has to be something a little out of the box.

I’ll check back before the Redskins are 3 and 7!

Ok good, sometimes the door lock assembly on these models cause all sorts of what appear to be unrelated problems.

And it could be worse, you could be a long time Bills fan like me.

Swapping the door lock mechanism didn’t help. I now have the broken machines MCU, Motor, and door lock in my machine and it’s working fine. The other is still getting the F06.

I reseated all of the connectors again also, this thing is driving me nuts.

The more I search the more I find that this is a problem machine.

You are correct, this model is just almost impossible to diagnose. If a service tech came to your house he or she would just start replacing parts until they got it right, no diagnosis possible.

The wiring harness is the next thing to suspect, it’s not likely the problem but when you have eliminated everything else . . . the interface could also be an issue but is even less likely.

Sorry, wish we could be of more help, the problem is not us, the problem is not you, it is Whirlpool and the people that designed this thing.

I appreciate your help. With Black Friday coming, I’ve decided to just strip it down, store the parts for mine, and just replace it…assuming no other suggestions come up.

Again, thanks for your help…I’m done with whirlpool

Good decision. If you can avoid a front loader or any machine with electronics, for reasons you are now very familiar with.

Electronics hate moisture, heat and vibrations and washing machine have all three.

Good luck
