Whirlpool Gold GY398LXPS00 Oven control panel problem E0F2

Great forum. I have the error code E0F2 on the display screen. I turned off the breaker for one hour, then powered it back up and hit cancel. This did not cure the problem. I had the control panel and control unit replaced three months ago while it was still under warranty. It’s now two weeks out of warranty with the same problem. The unit crashed both times at the three hour mark of cooking. My problem is that I do not want to buy both parts ($450) without knowing what caused it to go in the first place. I’m very good with schematics and a DVM if I know what direction to go in. I appreciate all of your guidance. Thanks, Ivar.

Here are your parts

Unfortunately there is no info available for the keypad pin-out so you cannot check it. It is strange that it came up 3 hours into a bake cycle so I would lean towards the control board. If it was a true key/switch shorted it should show up all the time.

Sounds like something is heating up and causing the problem. May be a connection or a component on the control board.

I would try the following cleaning first. This is a long shot as it is really for an open key not a shorted key.
When reconnecting the keypad make sure the pins/track line up perfectly.
Connector Cleaning / Checking
Unplug the unit
Open it up
Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board.
Clean the edge connector.
If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive.
Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here.
Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates.
Reconnect everything and give it a try.

Sounds like the control board is overheating and blowing a component.

I would check that the oven door is closing properly.

Also that the cooling fan is operating.

I thought I had seen a tech bulletin on this but for the life of me I cannot find it.

I am going to put this post into the tech section and try to get input from others.
