Does not whine while draining.

Most likely there is some foreign object inside the pump.Open it and check the impeller and housing.

My diswasher seems to have healed itself. I ran it empty and no more noise. I decided to try that since I didn’t have a star screw driver to take the top cover off of the housing. Awesome forum! I’ll be back for my next appliance emergency.
