Whirlpool spins slow and makes clicking sound

The spin cycle varies speed, but generally spins slower than normal. The clothes are wetter than usual. Also while spinning there is a clicking sound coming from the front near the pump

Check your coupling, sounds like it may be in the process of breaking up. On the way in check to make sure nothing is caught in the pump or drain hoses.

Here is a video which will show you how.

Thanks a lot Guys. I’ll check the Coupler and for a clog. Let you know how it goes.

Okay I’ve checked the coupler. Seems okay and doesn’t look worn. I’ve also checked for a blocked drain. Nothing there either. Any other suggestions?
I can rotate the drum by rotating the clutch by hand clockwise. Rotating the clutch counter clockwise, the clutch will turn about a quarter turn then stop.

I haven’t heard of that, and I think you will find your problem with the clutch or the brakes, and let us know how what you find out

Yep, you’re right. It’s the brakes dragging. The clicking sound was from the motor switch arm chattering against the wheel it rides on. The motor was jerking due to the brakes binding.
Thanks again for your help. New brakes and it’s working fine.

Great, glad you got it fixed, and some credit has to go to Richappy. Thanks for the update.
