Whirlpool washer leaks from front while filling

Top loading washer leaks from the bottom when filling - water drips from the front panel in about the middle of the machine. Does not pour out profusely - but more than just drip-drip. It almost appears to be leaking from the tub - but why only when it is filling? Is there a valve or something in the front of the machine that could be stuck? Or is a filling hose routed in such a way that it could be leaking from the bottom front of the machine when filling? Thanks for any pointers…

The machine is designed so that it will operate with the cabinet removed. Here’s a video that will guide you through the cabinet removal process. All you will need to do is bypass the lid switch (with a jumper wire) and watch it during a fill cycle. You should be able to spot where the water’s coming from.

Pulled the cabinet as suggested - ran through a fill cycle (did not need to bypass lid switch for filling - but did need to for draining tub) - as the tub filled - water was leaking from the pump. Replaced pump - problem solved. Thanks for the help - the video was also very helpful.

Glad to help. You saved a bunch of money on a professional service call by doing it yourself. Well done!
