Bad ignitor/gas valve?

Ok, so I’ve got a new ignitor on order as that seems the most likely based on the symptoms. The problem is that only ignitor symptoms are described. What are faulty gas valve symptoms? I don’t have an amp meter and the ignitor was the less expensive part, but I still suspect it is a gas valve problem. The oven takes more than 3 min to light and frequently there is the smell of gas and when it does light it stays lit but heats the oven very slowly. So these are the symptoms of a faulty gas valve. The problem I’m having is that the flames of the lit burner are very low and weak. I thought the burner was either on or off. Why the weak flame? Is it possible for the gas valve to have reduced gas flow? A partially plugged orifice?

According to your description the problem is a weak igniter. You can learn how the oven igniter works from one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/1897-oven-wont-lite.html
