Dishwasher runs fine, but recently the dispenser stopped opening and releasing the detergent. The release catch is sticking when you try to open it manually. You can push it in, slide the entire detergent holder unit left/right, but the detergent door won’t open easily.
The dishwasher was leaking water all over the kitchen floor every time is was turned on. The plumber told me I needed a new heating element. That just doesn’t sound like it will fix the problem. What do you think the problem is? Is it cheaper just to get another dishwasher? Thanks! p.s. Nowhere can I find the model number - sorry.
Gene, I got the old dispenser out and the new one in. Also got the wood panel back onto the door. But I must have taken off too many screws. The dishwasher door is no longer attached to the machine at all. It’s just hanging by the electrical wires… How do I do this? Does the door slide onto the metal brackets at bottom? They don’t look like they’d move forward easily when the door is opened. Is there a picture of what this should look like?
You have to remove the outer door panel and screws holding the dispenser.
Gene.

Where does one locate the "screws holding the dispenser" Also - the plastic door gurads (or whatever they are) fell out when I removed the cover - where do they attach?
I have a Bosch SGS3042GB/01 and need to replace the soap dispenser. I’m not clear from your description which screws to remove to take off the outer door. There are 3 torx screws on each side (and four along the top) facing from the machine interior to the outer door (i.e. perpendicular to the door); there are also 3 torx screws on the sides of the interior of the inner door running parallel with the plane of the door. Sorry for the convoluted explanation, but I am unclear which to remove. The ones perpendicular to the door look most promising.

Well, now I see. The link you posted leads to the UK web site and the model number you posted is UK model. That’s why it does not come up on any US appliance web sites.
Unfortunately we are not able to supply anybody with more or less reliable advices for non American models.
