Control board or control panel?

I purchased from this site part # AP4097628, which is called the clock with the harness. I think this part is the control board. When the oven was turned back on by the breaker, a F1-8 message appeared with beeping, just like before I replaced the part.

The initial problem with the oven was that it had started beeping and displayed a F1-8 message. By replacing the control board, I thought it would fix the problem, it did not.

Now I think I need part # AP4094865, which is the control panel assembly. Before I return the control board which is now taken out and in its original box, I would like to know for sure if I need the control panel.

When reading other forums, I found out that someone else had a F1-8 problem, which meant a shortened key in membrane switch. So I opened the control panel removed the ribbon cable from the control board and have cleaned it with an eraser, and checked the ribbon with a magnifying glass.

When I checked the ribbon with a magnifying glass I found that across the entire ribbon there was a crease (please see drawn attachment). I would like to know if the crease is normal or if this is an issue and I need to return the control board and then purchase the control panel.

Also when performing the F1 touch pad / ERC test the message displayed F1-7, what does that mean?

Please advise me to which part is needed or any other suggestions. Thank you in advance for your time.

Julie,

Both fail codes, and the crease in the touchpad ribbon, indicate, the keypad ribbon is the problem.

F1-8 indicates the ERC control is " seeing " a constant circuit from a keypad.
F1-7 indicates the ERC is not"seeing" a circuit from the touch pad assembly.

Both codes could and probably are due to the crease in the touchpad ribbom.

You’ll need to call our Customer Service Dept. 1-877-477-7278 , and make arrangements to return the control/ERC and order the Control Panel assembly,
