the range still works but the oven does not. the panel has power to it and shows the time, but i cannot input anything to it other than the time. Pulling the plug and leaving it off for a few hours does not solve the problem either. I couldn’t find a fuse internal to it, nor could i find any obvious breaks on the circuit board. The local applicance company to examined it and indicated that the entire panel had to be replaced at a parts price of $269 plus labor. he though the issue may be the communications ribbon or the motherboard. 1. is there any way to better isolate the problem rather than replace the whole thing?
2. are the invididual parts available or do i have to buy the entire assembly?
Most likely the problem is a bad touch pad and/or its ribbon cable. Whirlpool does not sell any of individual parts for the control panel separate but the control panel assembly comes with the installation instructions. So if you do know how to handle a simple tools then you probably can do the repair yourself and save some $$$.
If you do need the correct part number for the control panel assembly, post the color of the control panel.
