Dispenser doesn't dispense properly after replacing fill valve

I just replaced the fill valve (#AP3128776) on my Whirlpool Duet. Everything has been hooked up on the new valve just like on the old valve (white connectors to cold, black connectors to hot). When I opened the dispenser drawer after running a load of laundry, I found that it had dispensed the detergent only, not the bleach or fabric softener. Is the valve defective or is it possible that I have the right side white connector on the left side (don’t know if that matters)?

I don’t think you hooked it up wrong, or that the problem is with the valve, but if you want to you can get a replacement from APP at no cost.

Check out the see that the lines from the dispenser to the basket are not blocked, but I am thinking the problem is more likely with the control unit.

I don’t think the lines are blocked, the dispenser worked properly before I replaced the valve. I’d like to make sure it’s really the valve before I try to move that monster again (it’s way bigger & heavier than me!) Is there any way to test the valve or the dispenser control before just replacing the valve?

It sounds like it is difficult to get to, but if you can you can put a multimeter on the connectors going to the valve assembly that opens for the bleach and fabric softener. If it is getting current when the machine call for them to open then the valve assembly is the problem.

I ran another load, this time didn’t put any bleach or fabric softener in. When I opened the dispenser drawer, there was water in the bleach compartment. I’m going to try one more load, see if it’s working and if it is just chalk it up to a temporary blockage. If it doesn’t, then I’ll ask for a new valve assembly.

Okay, good. If there was a lot of water in the bleach compartment this may mean that the line from it to the basket is partially blocked. Water should flush the bleach entirely out of the compartment.
