I recently tried to dry some tennis shoes. Since then, the dryer makes a squeaky vibrations upon initial start up and generally gets quieter over time. Wet towels are the worse but the noise goes away by the time they are dry. I was able to amplify the noise by putting some side pressure on the idler pulley while running, and it duplicated the noise and it was significantly louder. (I replaced the idler pully, the rear rollers and the front glides 18 months ago). It is a 1997 Maytag Neptune electric dryer. It generally works great. I know I have to replace something but do I mess with the motor or is it likely only the idler pulley. I am tempted to repalce everything that moves underneath but don’t want to do anything unecessary. I also don’t want to replace the wrong parts… Any direction on this?
Thanks, Derek
Well without being there to hear it I would say replace either the rear rollers, or front glides or both.
