Duet heat issue

Okay,
I have had quiet a learning issue with this dryer. A month or so back it quit working and I found it to be the thermal fuse. I replaced it and a few weeks later the heat stopped again. This time it was the thermistor. Well this morning it was not working again.

So far I have checked to make sure the air flow was good. I have checked all of the thermostats, the thermal fuse, and the thermistor for continuity. I have also checked the coils for continuity.

After I put everything back together the coils heated right back up. So i am now assuming i have some kind of ‘intermittent’ problem.

Could this be a timer issue?

I am thoroughly confused.

Depending on the unit it could be a timer problem.
But could also be a lot of other things.

When you checked every thing did you unplug the unit or flip the breaker off.

If you flipped the breaker off that may have been your problem.
Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker and the heating coil requires both sides of the ine (240 volts).

No I unplugged it from the wall while working on it, but I didn’t realize about half the line not tripping the breaker (I will store that info away for other projects).

Really nothing you can do until the unit fails again, just too many things that could cause the problem.

Intermittent problems can drive a person around the bend.

It of course will not fail again till you really, really, really need the dryer.

Okay a few days ago the coils quit heating up again. I finally had time today to work on it a little. Still all of the thermostats and the thermal fuse have continuity. The thermistor is reading 8.36 at 20k ohm (I think this is the same as when the coils were heating up). So I am again at a loss.

Any ideas?

Are you sure it is not a GEW9200LW0?

You are exactly correct the number is 9200lw0

I apologize, apparently in the middle of all the ‘cussing’ and hollering at the thing I wrote the numbers incorrectly.

The thermistor reading looks OK.
Did you unplug it when measuring?

Try running the tests in the tech sheet.
