My problem started a few weeks ago, freezer not freezing , and fresh food section not cooling.
From reading other posts I replaced the defrost heater,and the main board, The freezer now freezes but still the fresh food section is too warm.
The bottom of the Fresh Food side is cold , but warms up towards the top.
There is no obstruction in the bottom vent and the top damper is opening.
what else could this be?

tony, i would imagine when you did this work to the refrigerator, you defrosted the evaporator coil. if not, the heater will never catch up. also make sure the freezer fan motor is running, and so is the condenser motor, next to the compressor. tom

thanks for the response. i did thaw the Evaporator coild with a blow dryer just before i installed the new heater and board.
The fan in the freezer is working , also the fan behind the fridge is working. i’m assuming thats the condensor motor fan?
I have noticed again this afternoon that i have frost on the evaporator cover in the freezer.
Not sure if i should take it off and check for a frozen coil again?

tony, i would pull the back panel and look at the coil, and see if it is a full frost build up. if so it could be the defrost thermostat, that is located at the top of the evaporator. it is about the size of a quarter, and has 2 wires coming out of it. there are also 2 sensors in the freezer, and one in the refrigerator. i do not know what the exact ohm reading should be if they are good. tom

Everything staying frozen, Great !
The bad news !
The Fridge side will not cool down past 52 degrees F.
the latest ;part i replaced was the defrost / over temp Switch. Waiting now but does not seem to have solved the problem.
Could this be a thermostat issue?
I’m about ready to heave this thing out the door !

what do you have the controls set at? Also did you put the back of the freezer back on? If not the temps won’t get to the refrigerator properly. Also, you should be checking product temperature. I guess the fan is running next to the compressor? Tom %url%

I put the panel back on the evaporator coil, No frost on it. heater seems to be working fine.Freezer is -5 degs F set at 5 on temp dial.
Fridge side is still around 52 Degs F. i tried settings from #9 coldest to #1 , Temp stays the same.
Products are cool not cold, milk only lasting a few days at the most.
Both the (evaporator coil )fan inside the freezer and the outside( condenser fan ) are running.
Not sure were to go from here. Thanks for your reply.

tony it sounds like the refrigerator damper control is not functioning properly. it is up in the top shelf of the refrigerator, on the left hand side. it is where the air comes into the refrigerator from the freezer. there is a sensor there that could be the problem. it is right there to. it a white thin small part. part # wr55x10025. also, it could be the damper & thermister assembly, which is basically the air damper. part # wr09x10050. it has to be one of the two. if you take the cover off, and jam a pencil or a pen, or something, in the air control, which is the air louvers, and give it about 3 to 5 hours, and the temp comes down in the refrigerator, we know it is one of the 2. the temp sensor is the cheapest of the 2. i has to be one of those 2. don’t give up now tony. tom

I ordered the [SIZE=2]WR55X10025 GE Refrigerator Temp Sensor Thermister[/SIZE].
The louver seemed to be operating properly but just not staying open long enough.
i’ll re-post when i change it out. Again thanks for all your help and encouragement.

I replaced the thermister temp sensor in the FF compartment and the damper control door opened and then closed soon after. although i hade the setting set from 5 to #9 on the dial it still doesn’t seem to be cooling the FF side correctly.
If the damper control door operates does that prove it is working properly ? or should i consider replacing the louver door assembly?

That is a possible problem. It is hard to check it from here. Have you been able to check the freezer temp, if so what is it? If you set the setting to 5, while the refrigerator is running, and let it sit for about 10 minutes, then come back and set it to 9, and see if the door stays open. If it does, then immediatly closes, replace the louver door assembly. Tony, this frig is no named the money pit!!! Tom %url%
