I have a GE Side by Side refrigerator. The freezer and icemaker are working fine. The refrigerator is not cooling as good as it should. I have the control setting at 7 and its cooling but not cooling good enough. The milk is warm. I have noticed that the top of the refrigerator is not cooling and the bottom of the refrigerator is cooling better. especially the 2 bottom drawers. Can you please help.
I Checked The Back Of The Inside Of The Freezer And There Is A Little Bit Of Frost. You Stated To Check The Heater, Do You Know Where The Heater Is At? I Also Checked The Fan In The Freezer By Holding The Switch On The Door Down And The Fan Is Still Working. Is The Fan Suppose To Shut And Come Back On?
once we removed the back panel the coil had ice all over it. my husband checked the defrost heater and it was fine had continuity from one end to the other end. he also checked the defrost thermostat and it also had continuity. now I read that to check the thermostat wiring it should be frozen, is this correct and why? Also i can not locate the defrost timer at all, not even on the diagram. can you please help on where to locate this and maybe send a picture of what i’m looking for. (model#gss25jepaww GE date of refrigerator is 01/21/2003.)
I also wanted to know on the evaorator fan there is a white censor, how can i check to see if this is bad?
p.s the freezer started melting the ice from the icemaker too. so now the freezer is not cooling like it should.
I’ve been reading all the posts and Gene seeme to be the fridge wiz so I was wondering if you could help me. I have the same problem as most everyone here. My freezer is fine but my refrigerater is warm. I have a GE model GTS18KBMCRWW. There was a little bit of frost on the inside back panel of my freezer but I melted it away and the problem is still persisting. When I open the freezer door I can feel cold air coming into the fridge (from the vents inside the top of the fridge) BUT when I close the freezer door I do not feel it anymore. I was thinking the damper control wasn’t working but when I looked up my model there wasn’t a damper control to replace. Any idea on what might be wrong? I’d hate to have to buy a new fridge if this is an easy fix.
Sorry it took me so long to respond but when I moved out the fridge I noticed that I can’t open the back panel. Is it possible that the temperature control could be on the fritz? Do you know if my GE GTS18KBMCRWW has a damper control? I tried to look up all the info on this fridge but I couldn’t see a damper control part? Please advise.
In case you forgot (since I took so long to respond) the original problem with my fridge is that the freezer works fine but the fridge is warm (55-60F). I can feel cool air come in with the freezer door open but when I close it I can’t feel any cool air in the fridge. I’ve tried playing with the controls by moving the fridge all the way to 8 or 9 (highest) and the freezer as well but that hasn’t been helping so I moved them both back to 6.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
I was just hoping to avoid having to call anyone in so any words of widsom would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks Woodchuckie! I checked those two parts and they are both working fine. Would you know if that would mean that it’s definitely the temperature control I have to replace?

There is a little frost on the back panel of my freezer so I’m not sure if it’s a defrost issue BUT when I opened the area where the temperature control is located I didn’t see anything wrong with the defrost control (then again I’m not sure what I would be looking for).
Thanks in advance for all your help.

I meant the rear panel IN the freezer (#201 on the diagram), not on the back of the refrigerator.
According to your description there is a problem with the air flow from the freezer into the fresh food compartment. I do not think it has something to do with the temperature control.
