After banging noise heard during last load, I removed the back and noticed that both plastic shock absorbers were broken and need to be replaced. Parts are available, but my question is how difficult is it to remove the plastic pins that hold the shocks in place at both ends? I can’t tell if these pins unscrew, pull out, or if a special tool is needed to remove the pins. Didn’t want to damage the pins by applying too much pressure.
My question was answered when I purchased some replacement shocks from the local appliance repair business. There are locking tabs that must be depressed when pulling out the pins - wasn’t too difficult. However I would like to pass along that GE wanted $115 for a pair of these shocks (including shipping), whereas the local store sold the Frigidaire replacements for $35 - it was worth looking around a bit…
