GE Washer Knob Issue

Hello,

I have a GE top loader washer (Model # WHDSR315D5WW). Normally, when I push the knob on the front panel, the washer tops and pulling the knob starts the cycle; however, since yesterday the when I push the knob, the water starts filling. Also once the washer completes the cycle the knob does not go back in (i.e., in pushed position) so that I can do a new cycle. Please help!

Thanks,
Niket

Hi.

Please provide correct model number. The one you posted is not coming up.

Thank you.

Simon.

Hi Simon,

Here’s the manual from GE’s website. The model # is whdsr315

Hi.

Most likely it’s a bad timer WH12X10254

Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5242643

Thank you.

Hi Simon - Is there a way I can confirm before I order this expensive part? Is there anything else I can try to see if it works?

Hi.

I am afraid there is no test to confirm it.
But you always can return any parts even if they been installed.(If you purchased them from APP).

Simon.

Great. Thanks for the help Simon. I will order the part and post the results after installation.

You are welcome.

Simon.

The part replacement did the trick. Thank you for your help.

You are welcome.

Simon.

I also have a GE top loading washer WHDSR315. The washer some time can advance by itself to a certain point, then it stops until I turn the knob clockwise a little bit to start the next step. I have tried different wash cycle choices (Cotton or Easy Care). Both wash cycle only moves to fill and agitate. Then it sits there until I turn the knob/dial to the next step. Is this also a timer problem? Thanks.
