Kenmore 80 Washer Dead. Trips Breaker When Pulling Start

A month ago, after the washer would not cycle and the motor was humming, I discovered the capacitor was blown and replaced it. It worked fine after that. Today, after starting a load, I noticed that it stopped after it finished filling.

I discovered the circuit breaker that it’s connected to tripped. I reset the breaker and tried to start the washer in several different settings and it would immediately trip the breaker. It won’t even start to fill again, even after I drained all the water. The outlet seems to work fine as I plugged a hair dryer into it and it worked.

Nothing seems visually out of whack. No evidence of burnt wires, etc. Lid switch seems fine (I jumped it anyway and no change). Motor, coupling and pump seem fine. The water level switch has continuity. Haven’t tested the timer yet. No noises at all. I’m not sure where to go from here. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Sounds like a dead short in the wiring harness.
Run a continuity check between the hot and neutral on the plug prongs with the timer knob pulled out. (with the machine unplugged of coarse)
If so start tracing wires to see where the short might be.
