Maytag Legacy Washer Squeak

My Maytax Legacy washer that I have had for about 5 years suddenly started making a loud squeaking noise. From reading other questions, it appears to be the brake pads. I removed the front panel and found what appears to part of a break pad. Is this something that I can replace myself or a repairman is needed?

I t hink this repair is something you should get an experienced repair tech, one who knows this model and has done brake changeouts before, to do. The parts are not expensive, and you should be able to get a firm quote before the tech comes out. It is the type of repair where experience with replacing brakes on this model is very valuable, and be sure and get a good guarantee as it is easy to make a few mistakes and not get it back together correctly.
