Narrowed down to Compressor Start Relay??

Good Evening All,

I have a Kenmore Side by Side. Its not cooling. Its not frozen up etc. I took the back cover up, and plug it in and turn it on. The fan near the coils is running and the compressor has a "Click" but does not turn on, then a minute or so later another "Click" but not compressor on. I took off the Compressor Start Relay and shook it and it rattles like there are loose parts inside. I am assuming from I have read that this is the problem. I have looked on this site and I think I need part # AP3885081. The photos of that part show a white and tan box with that looks exactly like what I took off. The other part phots on the site look like they might be what is inside my white and tan box, so I assume I have to assemble the part when I recieve it. I am not sure what the extra wire within the parts photos is for, I did not remove a wire like this when I removed the start relay, I assume it is to help the part fit on other refrigators? Also, I have a black box that plus into my white and tan part, I did not see that in the parts photos, do I need to replace that, and if so what is it called?

Hopefully I have diagnosed the problem any way to be sure, I read if you hear a click and take the start relay off and shake it and hear parts rattling around you have found the problem? Anything other way to tell?

Appreciate all the expert advise. I tried to ask the customer service people and they all pointed me to this forum.

Thanks Michael

That was it, part came, installed and now all is working. There were two start relays in the box and other parts, it was a simple plug and play with one of the two complete start relays.
