Noise during spin Cycle

My GE washer makes a loud sound during the spin cycle. I haver read the forums and have found ref. to Bearings and Couplers. My question is what kind of job would it be to replace both these parts and should I replace one over the other?? Is there any trouble shooting I can do to isolate the faild part??

I believe that the Coupler is p/n AP3964635 and the Bearing is AP2046288.

Thank you in advance,

TT

Yes - pretty well… Thanks for helping. It seems like this is a popular prob.

Is doing a transmission a hard job?? The part is $136.00. I don’t want to start something I would regret. I have read a few people when faced with replacing this part just give up and buy a new washer.
