I started the self-clean function on my Whirlpool double oven on Black Friday and the last thing I saw on the panel was "cooling", next thing I know the control panel is blank. Much like "Silly Shopper" who posted a similar problem with a similar model Whirlpool double oven, the breaker is still on, so the oven is still getting power. I am assuming that this is also a thermal fuse problem. However, I can’t find the control panel to change out the thermal fuse. Could you give me some pointers on where to find the cotrol panel on my Whirlpool model and how to remove the old thermal fuse? Any additional advice you could share on this particular problem would be greatly appreciated. I’ve got to get the oven back in working order before my family comes up for Christmas.
Just because the breaker did not trip does not mean that the unit is getting power.
Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
If this is the half that runs the control board then it will look dead.
If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!!
