washer repair

I have a Roper washer that will not spin when in the cycle & it makes a squeaking sound I can turn with my free hand no problem I checked the drainage hose & it is clear. I am also having problem getting the back of to listen to where the noise is coming from I took out 4 screws at the corners but still can’t seem to get it loose. Are other screws holding it in place?

Not sure what else to do at this point.

Thanks
Richard

Well you are having trouble getting the back off because that’s not how you get into the machine.

Your problem may be the clutch, an inexpensive part and easy repair.

See the Sticky at the top of this page on Direct Drive Brakes, and take a look at this video for how to open it up and get to the parts.

I have installed the new clutch assembly parts, machine still will not spin & also will not now agitate either.

Please let me know what you think the problem is.

If the motor is turning when in agitation mode and the clutch is not turning when in spin mode you may have problems with the coupling; may not have gone on correctly. Check and see what the motor is doing when it is supposed to be turning, that will give you a good clue as to what is going on.

It sure could, replace it and see if that fixes things. (Even if it does not you need to replace it anyway)

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, I really appreciate it! I have ordered the part & hope that this will fix this will fix the problem.

thanks again
