washer stopped agitating and spinning

The washer stopped agitating & spinning today - fills and drains fine, cycles ok too no loud noises of any kind, nothing amiss leading up to this- I’d appreciate any help in figuring out a repair. Simple I hope. Researching parts it looks like it could be the lid switch - is that a fairly common failureand is there any temporary fix till part comes? UPDATE: WE CHECKED THE LID SWITCH WITH OHM METER AND ITS WORKING _ ANY OTHER IDEAS ON WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS _ IS THERE ANOTHER SWITCH OR RELAY??

This machine has a mode shifter and the motor has a built in diagnostic device which flashes lights to signal an error code.

Here is a site that will tell you how to intepret the codes.

First try resetting it, sometimes that is all that is needed. If that does not work and you cannot get a good error code reading the problem is likely the motor. Operate the machine with the front panel off and see if the motor is turning during agitation or spin functions.

Sorry it took so long to post this but your information was perfect and my husband was able to repair it the next day. It only ended up being a reset issue so we were greatly relieved and saved much money due to your insight. We have received other valuable info from this site and buy any necessary parts here when needed. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge offered along with the necessary parts and will always come here first.
