The washer works fine but the knob that turns the different cycles does not work. I can pull the knob out and push it in but I have to try and turn the large spinner behind the knob by hand to set it? what part do I need?
Well this should just about the most inexpensive repair that involves a part. You likely need a new knob, this part here.
These GE knobs have little plastic teeth on them that engage the timer to turn it, and these teeth all break off for some reason, probably GE quality. Take off your knob by removing the clip that holds it on and you should see only small remnants of teeth. If so, get a new knob, put it on and you should be all set.
