Whirlpool gas oven will not ignite

There was a creaking noise right before it would ignite. Then it stopped igniting. I replaced the igniter and it worked. The next time I tried to turn it on it wouldn’t ignite again. It just clicked and the igniter sparked. The bake is the only thing that will not work everything else works great. What do I do?

Did you replace the igniter together with the Bake burner?

Did you hear gas coming out when the igniter clicks?

  1. Remove the rear cover from the control panel. Remove the Red wire from the P24 terminal on the control board and check for 120VAC between the P24 terminal and ground while the control calls for Bake.

If there is no 120VAC then replace the control board.

If there is 120VAC then proceed to step 2.

  1. Remove the bottom drawer and locate the gas valve/regulator on the back. Label the three wires connected to the gas valve/regulator and remove them. Check the Bake and Broil solenoids as described in the [AP3672576](https://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%209755996.pdf"]tech sheets[/URL] (page 3).

Replace the gas valve/regulator if any of the readings is wrong.

Replace the spark module if there is nothing wrong.

In order to provide the right part number for the control board I need the color of the touch pad and the last digit (after "Q") in the model number.

Unfortunately this tech sheet is no longer available on line. The following are instructions for the troubleshooting:

The middle terminal is Common, the upper terminal is Broil and the bottom terminal is Bake. Check between each solenoid for 216 Ohms resistance (Broil to Common and Bake to Common). If one of the solenoid is defective, neither one will operate and the gas valve/regulator has to be replaced.

thank you. the broil solenoid was at about 118 ohms and the bake solenoid wouldn’t register anything… so, looks like i’m ordering a new valve. thank you for your help!

You are welcome. Keep us posted.

I’m afraid this is just a temporary fix. What is the complete model number of the oven?

I beleive I have a similar problem with the gas valve on my Whirlpool gas stove/range.
Can anyone tell me do the wires going into the valve just pull out? I don’t want to damage the stover any further.
Also are there any instructions anywhere for replacing the valve unit?
