I ran a wash cycle the other day & everything worked, but I noticed the clothes were still pretty full of water. I tried to run the clothes through a spin cycle, but it wouldn’t run. It would fill with water, agitate, then stop. Now it won’t drain…it has been making this horrible knocking sound lately, even with a small or balanced load…HELP - I have a washer full of water & tons of laundry to do!
Hi Kella
The first thing we need to do is to try and determine the overall problem. Plan to take a couple of hours (hopefully it will take less time) working on this.
Take off the pump (this video will show you how) but leave the hoses conected.

and put the machine in spin mode. If it spins the problem is in the pump and replacing it should solve your problem.
If you still have no motor turning and hear the grinding noise, take off the motor, leaving it connected and put the machine in spin mode. If the motor runs freely the problem is in your transmission or brake tube assembly. In that case see the Stick by Richappy at the top of the page.
Turns out it was the lid switch after all - we took a good look at it last night. The switch was totally cracked apart. Then when we moved the washer, we found a spring in the back of the washer! We think the spring fell off, causing it to rock so hard that it broke the switch! Thank you for your help!
Great, glad that was an easy fix and thanks for the update.
