Will not complete Spin cycle or finish draining.

Recently replaced motor coupling gear. Before this, the machine functioned perfectly.

Now the washer works great until the spin cycle. It will spin for 30-45 seconds and then stops completely and will not drain.

Sometimes if I turn the control back to the beginning of the cycle it will start again, but always stops once it reaches spin cycle. Sometimes the machine dies completely and I have to let it sit for a few minutes before it will do anything again.

I figured since I just replaced that coupling maybe a connection was loose somewhere. I double checked all connections and they seem okay. The connection at the motor seems a little loose, but I pressed it on as tight as it would go.

What should I check next?

Hello,

This washer should completely drain out all water and pause before it will start to spin. Does it do it or it starts to spin while it’s full of water?

What was the reason to replace the motor coupling?

Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/parts-for-whirlpool-lbr4132jq1.html

Thanks for the diagrams! I believe it trys to drain but still has a good but if water in it.

It starts to spin while it is still full of water.

I replaced the motor coupling because the gear on one side was broken. I believe my roommate overloaded it and caused this gear to break, although he denies it.

The washer also leaks a pretty serious amount of water while running.

Should I try replacing the pump?

It is very possible that the pump is the culprit.

P.S. Click on the part number and you will be able to watch the repair video.

Is there a way I can test the pump?

If the pump is leaking, you will see it.

Disconnect the hoses from the pump and check for a foreign objects inside.

P.S. Taking the washer apart will eliminate most of questions.
