This is a side x side with thru the door ice and water. A few days ago the ice dispenser stopped working. Ice is still being made. When the actuator pad on the door is depressed a distinct CLICK is heard as the ice door opens, but nothing else happens. I hired a professional tech who came out yesterday. He did not have a meter. He looked at the parts and said he thought it needed a new control board and "the transformer or capacitor thing" next to the auger motor. Quoted $270 for parts and ten days delivery. I can get them here for $135 shipped today. He also quoted $150 for labor to install. Should I buy them and install myself? OR, find someone else to come out and take a look and see if this is really the problem? OR, let him come back and fix it for grand total of $420?! I need to decide today or my wife will nag me mercilessly!! Many many thanks for your help.
